Description and Activities of our organization
Established in November 2002, WasteServ is responsible for organising, managing and operating integrated systems for waste management including integrated systems for minimisation, collection, transport, sorting, reuse, utilisation, recycling, treatment and disposal of solid and hazardous waste as well as integrated systems for export of waste to destinations outside the Maltese Islands. This is done in accordance to the Laws of Malta whilst observing internationally recognised waste management principles.
WasteServ has also been committed to establish and maintain an innovative waste management infrastructure which also protects the environment and society. Moreover the past ten years have also been characterised by ongoing communication with the general public to introduce the basic concepts of waste management and the various educational campaigns have resulted in increased participation of the general public in waste separation as well as a gradual decrease in our waste generation per capita.
- Experiences in past EU funded projects, of most relevance being Pre-waste project under the Interreg IVC programme.
- Experience in trans-national cooperation programme involving collaboration to compile information to complete targets of the project.
- Experience in past education campaigns targeting the general public as well as other sectors.
- Experience in a holistic approach to waste management especially with regards to dissemination of information.
